Recipes
learnyellowgreengreyThe skill where each recipe can be learned, then turns yellow, green and grey. Orange recipes always give a point. A trainer's skill requirement isn't in the game files, so the learn number shows only for recipes an item teaches, and with your skill set the list assumes a trainer recipe can be learned 25 points before it turns yellow, as 9 in 10 item-taught skinning recipes can.

Partly A vendor sells an 'Apprentice Skinning Satchel', a 4-slot leatherworking bag, cheaply at low level. Xaryu notes you can pick up a profession early just to get a bag.
The files Apprentice's Skinning Satchel 277114: 4 slots, ItemSubClass 7 'Leatherworking Bag', BagFamily 0x2000000 (the Skinning Knife 7005 now has that flag too). BuyPrice is 25 copper, not 1 copper. Herb and Mining versions exist at the same price.

Not in the files Orc and Troll starters: finishing the Cactus Apple quest gives an item (a skinning knife) that lets you skin. Ceedsy skinned every corpse, including other players' kills, to sell Ruined Leather Scraps.
