Thorns Rank 3

In Blizzard's notes

What Blizzard said about Thorns, each line checked against the files.

• Partly

The base damage of Thorns has been returned to the Vanilla WoW values and the spell power ratio has been reduced to 6% (was 13.3%).

The files All six ranks deal 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 damage in 70291, the Classic Era values (was 4, 9, 11, 13, 16 and 22; spells 467 to 9910, effect value). Neither the old nor the new records carry a spell power coefficient, so the 6% ratio can't be seen.

• Not in the files

Thorns will now dynamically update its values based on the caster's spell power.

The files Thorns (467 to 9910) has no spell power coefficient in the files, so the scaling is done by the server. Build 70291 changed its damage back to Classic's (3/6/9/12/15/18) but added no coefficient.

• Not in the files

If the caster cannot be found or is too far away, Thorns reverts to its base values.

The files The caster range check is server logic; nothing in Thorns' data covers it.

• Not in the files

Thorns: Now gains increased damage from the caster’s spell power, while they are present.

The files Thorns has no spell power coefficient in the client, so live scaling from the caster's spell power is done by the server. Build 70291 set its damage back to Classic's (rank 6 does 18, was 22).
